In December 2020, I gathered with three close friends in my backyard, bundled up against the cold. We practiced social distancing while enjoying warm drinks, huddled around a lone PA speaker that had been neglected for months.

It was a momentous occasion as Public Universal Friend shared the collection of songs that would later become known as "Perennials." Initially hesitant to attract much attention, her decision seemed unwise as each song captivated us with its brilliance. From that day forward, we embarked on a journey to plan the release and promotion of Perennials, mirroring the same level of thoughtfulness that Jody Friend poured into her songwriting.

As the Creative Director, my role often saw me reaching for the camera, capturing countless precious moments. Despite the challenges of lockdowns, we seized every opportunity on sunny days to create mesmerizing music videos and captivating promotional photos.

What began as a humble backyard listening party in freezing temperatures eventually led us to the vibrant city of Los Angeles, where we forged an inspiring collaboration with Mahogany Sessions and OnePlus. A truly incredible year that Public Universal Friend is capitalizing on as they release and perform songs off their 2023 album, “Chrysalis,” streaming everywhere.

Window Dancer (2021-2022)

Responsibilities:
Content Strategy
Directing/Filmmaking

Spotify Canvas Creation

Window Dancer and I embarked on a collaborative journey during the filming of music videos for Public Universal Friend, where his innate sense of style, design, and on-camera finesse proved to be an invaluable asset. During this period, he generously shared early demos of his debut single, "Sunset Blues," a masterpiece crafted in collaboration with his fellow band member from The Palace, Jonny Trubshaw. The sheer magnetic allure of its energy was undeniable, seamlessly encompassing both beauty and chaos within its notes.

Together, we embarked on the creative endeavor of bringing this musical marvel to life through a mesmerizing music video, one that encapsulated the intimacy and vigor that echoed throughout the recording. From the project's inception, our mission was clear—to gather a collective of exceptionally gifted individuals who could contribute their talents in a harmonious symphony.

“Sunset Blues” featured the work of stylist and set designer, Fēi, to style and design the set. For hair and makeup, we worked with The Glow Queen. Their contributions were essential in our production.
“Love to Light Your Cigarette” starred dancer Natalie Clevenger, whose prowess in multiple forms of dance resulted in many improvised takes, embodying the elements of the song.
“Does Something to Me” was our most ambitious production. To ensure success we worked with Director of Photography, Zacharia Haske to capture the couture dresses from Regard and vintage styling by Geraldine Lee’s Vintage.

In addition to our ventures in music videos, my collaboration with Window Dancer extended into crafting captivating visual experiences for Spotify Canvas and Instagram, thereby intricately weaving into the fabric of his release and promotion strategy.
